About Jessica Paine

Jessica Paine is a screenwriter, script editor and obsessive tea drinker.

She has performed every conceivable role in a story room – working her way up from Trainee through to Associate Story Producer and Story Editor. Having spent 2017 working in the UK on long-running British icon Emmerdale, she also continues to write scripts for Neighbours, while developing other projects.

After a previous life spent as a producer working in breakfast television, Jess completed her Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma in Screenwriting at AFTRS. Her major project for the latter, a pilot script for an hour-long dramedy, was nominated for a Monte Miller Award in 2013.  Since then Jess has worked with, and learned from, some of Australia’s most acclaimed writers in a range of rooms, for a wide array of shows (including Deadline Gallipoli, Wonderland, Cleverman).

Jess was also awarded a spot in the Charlie’s Lab Program in Los Angeles (sponsored by Scripted Ink, hosted by Australians in Film) thanks to her YA genre pilot script The Replacements.
