Drew Macdonald has been working in the Queensland film industry for almost 10 years and has established himself as an emerging Screenwriter and Producer. Most recently he has Associate Produced the feature documentary, Only The Dead (2015) and completed a directing mentorship with Peter and Michael Spierig on Predestination (2014). As a Screenwriter, he has a feature film in development with Blacklab International and was awarded runner up for the AWG John Hinde award for unproduced Science Fiction in 2014 along with his co-writer Jacques Joubert. He has been involved with multiple development programs with Screen Queensland and Screen Tasmania; including being selected for The Writer’s Room 2012 and EURISTA Screenwriting Workshop in 2011.
He graduated from Bond University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Film and Television. His graduating film, Heart’s Atlantis, has screened at over a dozen International festivals and received various awards. He has also produced and directed EPK’s for Sanctum (2012), Predestination, and Only The Dead as well as numerous award winning short films, online ads, and music videos. He currently teaches Screenwriting at the New York Film Academy, Gold Coast campus.
