Andrew Emmerson

Andrew is a writer and editor, having received an Advanced Diploma in Screenwriting from AFTRS in 2018, and a Masters in Screenwriting from Loyola Marymount University in 2025.

Growing up on a farm in rural NSW (the traditional land of the Gomeroi people), Andrew has been writing since he was eight years old, when he wrote a series of hand-written stories titled, “Snake of Doom”. He promises he’s improved since then.

Andrew’s scripts have placed at numerous prestigious competitions such as Austin Film Festival, Los Angeles International Screenplay Awards and Shore Scripts TV Writer Mentorship Program. He was also the recipient of the American Australian Association’s 2024 Arts Fund Grant.

Andrew likes to write about characters who, like himself, struggle with how they feel about themselves – loners, losers, oddballs and outcasts – and he puts them into positions where they’re forced to confront those feelings about themselves, for better or worse.

Andrew currently works as a Development Coordinator, writing coverage on scripts, building pitch decks, and occasionally sitting in on development and story rooms as a note-taker. Previously, he worked for companies such as Network Seven, Nickelodeon, Atlas Entertainment, 87North Productions, AGBO Films and Whitaker Entertainment. He has also worked as editor on the animated LEGO series Monkie Kid, for which he earned an Australian Screen Editor’s Guild Award.

He dreams of one day creating his own television series, and also learning to juggle with four balls.
