Bec Peniston-Bird

Bec has directed a number of award winning short films including Goodnight Sweetheart (Palm Springs International Film Festival) and Summer Suit (Berlin International Film Festival), which she also edited and produced. She also wrote the Tropfest finalist, Goggles.

In early 2017, she undertook a Film Victoria Placement on the Spierig Brothers’ thriller, Winchester, starring Helen Mirren, and in 2018 she will represent Australia at the Berlinale Talent Campus.

Petrova has been shortlisted for the 2018 Sundance Film Lab and was the winner of last year’s INSITE AWARD. Petrova is being developed with Screen Australia Story Development funding.

With a background in classical music, Bec has made many documentaries exploring the creative process, including Nick Cave: Abusing the Muse (Melbourne International Film Festival) and Keith Haring Uncovered (ABC Television).

She has created original content for Chunky Move Dance Company, Melbourne Theatre Company, Lonely Planet TV, National Gallery of Victoria and MTV.

Bec has a Bachelor of Arts and an MBA. She is also a painter and directs commercials.
