Brigitte Haviland

Brigitte Haviland is a queer, autistic, emerging screenwriter from Campbelltown, south-west Sydney.

Her production background includes time at Flickerfest International Short Film Festival and Goalpost Pictures. She has also worked in network television, TVC production and performed a range of roles on scripted film and television sets. Brigitte made her first two short films at Metro Screen, and created independent dramedy web series, I Know You Are, crowd-funded via the Australian Cultural Fund.

After graduating from AFTRS in Screenwriting, she continued the development of her first feature film, Hi-Vis Hayley, as part of an emerging writers collective run by Stephen Davis.

Brigitte was a finalist in Quit Victoria and Melbourne Queer Film Festival’s inaugural Keep the Vibe Alive competition, winning a $4k grant to make comedic short, Vibe-Raters.

She recently participated in the Co-Curious Stories Online program for emerging Western Sydney screenwriters and completed the AWG’s First Break program on Note Taking & Script Coordinating.

Brigitte has trained in screen acting, long form improv, and she is a current recipient of the FINCH scholarship at NIDA where she is completing her Masters of Fine Arts in Dramatic Writing
