Cara currently holds several positions, including producer’s associate at Shipton House (a production company founded by Julian Assange’s brother Gabriel Shipton (Ithaka, 2021)); producer’s assistant at Galvanized Film Group (a production company founded by Heather Ogilvie (Salvation Creek, 2026)); senior music researcher in the film/TV team at Audio Network (a premier production music company); in addition to freelance producing, script editing, and note-taking (for various production companies, including Fremantle, Matchbox Pictures, Studio Gilay, Macgowan Films, and Disney+).
In 2026 she spent 5 months as a writer’s assistant to Tony McNamara, on his new, original concept TV show; was the first assistant director for George Basha’s action feature Caught Up; and is currently a producer for an action/thriller feature by writer/director Antony Szeto, starring JuJu Chan Szeto.
Initially a violoncellist (specialising in early/Baroque music), Cara performed with orchestras/chamber ensembles and managed the Sydney University Symphony Orchestra. She then became a lawyer (specialising in tax law) and worked for top tier law firms in Sydney and Hong Kong. Seeking a career that combined her love of music and more creative elements, in addition to the analytical/business skills she gained as a lawyer, Cara then worked for Universal Music; initially as an accountant, and then in the synchronisation/licensing team handling the dramatic context licensing of Universal’s catalogue.
Passionate about film/television, and wishing to pursue producing, writing and directing herself, she then worked for Cameron’s Management (a prestigious agency), assisting with the representation of screenwriters, directors, designers, cinematographers, editors, and composers; and in 2024, she was selected for the Australian Writers’ Guild Pathways First Break program.
Cara is currently developing her own features and television shows, and she is particularly passionate about stories stemming from diverse cultures. She has a Chinese/Italian background, and studied French and Italian extensively throughout high school and university.
