Cassie Matheson is a screenwriter, trained note-taker and AWG First Break graduate based in Sydney.

An experienced note-taker, Cassie brings twenty years of production knowledge, a story brain, and a generosity of spirit to the writers’ room.

A warm, collaborative presence, she confidently distils the writers’ collective vision into succinct, accessible notes, earning high recommendations from the producers and writers she supports.

Cassie’s affinity for drama with heart, notably family, workplace, and sports-led narratives, is reflected in her own work which explores life’s nuances through a sharp, often comedic, female lens.

Along with her extensive experience as a TVC producer for Nine, Cassie’s transition to screenwriting is backed by a lifetime of insights and a drive to bring authentic, addictive characters to discerning audiences.

Following quarterfinalist recognition from Big Break, PAGE Awards, and BlueCat screenwriting competitions for her debut comedy pilot, Birdie, she is currently creating a grounded sci-fi rom-com series and accepting note-taking and script coordinating opportunities to continue supporting established writers to produce their best work.
