Catgod, written and developed by Christopher Burke and Chris Phillips
Christopher Burke is an award-winning writer and storyteller with over 14 years experience in Australian TV & FIlm. He has worked as a Script Coordinator, Editor and Writer for shows including HERE COME THE HABIBS (2016), WONDERLAND (2013-14), HOME AND AWAY (2011-18), and SLiDE (2009-10). He’s written several award-winning comedy shorts screening at festivals across Australia, USA, Canada and the UK.
In 2015, his co-created comedy series CATGOD won the Australian Writers Guild’s multiplatform storytelling competition, and in 2016 the project became the first NSW recipient of development funding from screen talent incubator, Scripted Ink. In the same year, Christopher was invited to join the AWG Pathways Program which provides a channel for industry professionals looking for high-quality new scripts.
In 2017, Christopher’s animated comedy short GOING VEGO reached the final 16 of the world’s largest short film festival, Tropfest, and his script was nominated for an AWGIE award. In the same year Christopher won an AWGIE award for his co-written interactive geo-locative story app GHOSTS OF BILOELA.
In 2018, Christopher was one of five AWG members to be selected for the LA-based Charlie’s Lab Pilot Program, an immersive, bespoke program curated by Australians in Film, meeting screen industry executives and learning how Hollywood works. In 2020 Christopher won an AWGIE award with his comedy script ‘I AM NOT A HAZARD’ for NSW Health Training.
Christopher is currently developing a slate of comedy projects across live action and animation, including the television adaptation of his award-winning short film GOING VEGO.
