Mayfield, by Gemma Crofts
Gemma Crofts is a screenwriter for film and television. She is currently writing on a new show for Werner Film Productions which she helped develop, and is in late stage development on a feature film, Mayfield, with director Greg McLean (Wolf Creek) and producer Peter Lawson (John Wick, Spotlight).
Her screenwriting has won and been shortlisted for both Australian and international awards, with recently her feature Girlband making the top 1% of the Script Pipeline Feature Competition 2020, and feature The Compound being shortlisted for the McCraith Residency by the Australian Writers’ Guild. She won the Monte Miller Award for Best Unproduced Long Form Screenplay at the 2015 Australian Writers’ Guild Awards for her feature film The Man from The Moon, which was optioned by Mushroom Pictures, and was again nominated in 2017 for Below the Radar, which was optioned by Harvey Taft Productions. Her rom-com script St Kilda was selected for a rehearsed reading with Australians in Film/ Live Read LA, and is being adapted as an audio drama for Spotify.
The feature script Surface which she co-wrote with CS McMullen (The Other Lamb) was selected for the 2019 Athena IRIS Screenwriters Lab with mentor Michael Arndt.
She is experienced in development and was a development executive with over eight years experience, having worked for Mushroom Pictures, Dynamic Television (US), Working Title Films (UK) and Werner Film Productions. She is also an experienced script editor, having trained in feature script development at the Binger Film Lab in Amsterdam.
