Gina Lambropoulos

Gina isMelbourne-based screenwriter and community broadcaster on JOY 94.9, Australia’s only LGBTQI+ radio station.

Her feature script That Time of the Year (aka The Princess and the Bear) won the 2016 Australian Writers’ Guild’s Open Channel New Writer’s Script Competition. It’s currently in development with Matthewswood Productions and has received development support from Screen Australia and Film Victoria. It was also performed as a live script reading at the 2019 MIFF 37ºSouth Market.

Gina was recently selected to take part in Screen Australia’s Developing the Developer workshop for 2019. In its third year, the workshop aims to diversify the pool of professional fiction developers developing Australian stories for the screen.

In July 2019, she was selected and participated in the Cinespace Diversity Writer’s Room program. This simulated television writers’ room, lead by Jane Allen, aimed to develop skills in show plotting, and to learn how to work collaboratively within a television writers’ room environment.

In 2017 she participated in the Talent Camp VIC workshop, a diversity and inclusion initiative supported by Film Victoria, the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS) and Screen Australia.

She looks to collaborate with teams who believe in doing the hard work, especially in story development, to empower and support diverse voices that may not have had the traditional opportunities to share their work. She’s motivated by an abiding love of film and television, commitment to the Australian screen industry and desire to reshape the way that queer, female and ethnic Australian lives are framed on the screen.
