Gregor Nicholas won the Croisette d’Or Grand Prix at the Cannes Music Film Awards for his anti-nuclear protest film Pacific 3-2-1-Zero, performed by acclaimed avant-garde Kiwi performance group From Scratch. Gregor is the writer/director of the multi award-winning short film Avondale Dogs. Described as ‘profoundly moving’ and ‘stunningly poignant’, Avondale Dogs features in The Guardian’s list of top ten short films. Gregor is also the writer/director of the feature film Broken English. Praised by the New York Times as ‘raw, explosive and genuinely shocking’, the award-winning feature won the Schermi d’Amore Grand Prix at the Verona International Film Festival, sold to multiple territories worldwide and was distributed in North America by Sony Pictures Classics. Described as ‘hilarious’, ‘heartbreaking’ and ‘audacious’, Gregor’s satiric and poignant feature screenplay Meetings With Marty has won plaudits at numerous international screenwriting competitions.
