Jane Hampson

Jane Hampson is an award-winning writer and screenwriter working in film, television, live theatre and the web.

She is the founder and creative producer of Arafura Studios based in Darwin, Northern Territory. She works Australia-wide and internationally, and with an instinct for story creation is a sought-after storyliner and script consultant. She has worked for ABC-TV, Matchbox Pictures, Screentime/Channel 7, Studio Canal and ABC online. Her background is in journalism and she has worked across Southeast Asia.

Jane is a member of the AWG’s Pathways program. Her awards include the NT Literary Award and the prestigious Australian Writers’ Guild INSITE Award (Tigress). She has been a finalist for the Australian Writers’ Guild ‘Inside the Box’ TV Writing Award and the CineStory (LA) TV-Digital Fellowship. Short films that she has written, directed and produced have been included at the Rhode Island International Film Festival (finalist), Darwin International Film Festival, Port Shorts (Queensland), the NT Travelling Film Festival and Heart of Gold Film Festival (Queensland). Other projects have been represented at TIFF, the Melbourne International Film Festival and the Australian International Documentary Conference (AIDC). Commercial work includes docudrama narratives for the Defence of Darwin Museum and award-winning fashion films such as Life through Wool (Isabel Lucas) Summer Wonder (Gemma Ward), which have received over 2.5 million hits combined.

She is represented by Sharne McGee at Liberty Creative Management.
