Jane Jago is the winner of the 2023 Monte Miller Award – long form category. She is a crime-novelist and screenwriter, fascinated by the psychodynamics of crime. She is a current PhD Criminology candidate with the University of New England. She is an author with Penguin Random House UK, an alumna of the QWC Hachette Manuscript Development Program and the Byron Bay Writers Festival Manuscript Development Program. With a background in criminology (BA Writing, Criminology; BC Hons, Criminology), Jane writes stories and scripts that probe the fateful intersection between perpetrator and victim from multiple perspectives. Her feature screenplay The Wrong Hand continues this exploration through an examination of the ongoing aftermath of a notorious crime, and poses questions about culpability, atonement, responsibility, remorse and revenge.
