January Jones is a Melbourne-based writer and director.
A graduate of the VCA’s Film and Television Foundations course, her debut short Lone Wolf (2019) earned international acclaim and screened at festivals worldwide. In 2020, her screenplay Inherent was longlisted for an AACTA development initiative – AACTA Pitch: Isolation in Partnership with Monster Pictures. Most recently, her short Get Home Safe (2024) won the Sue Blainey Award for Best Female Storyteller at Bass Coast Shorts. Before filmmaking, January completed her Masters in Literature at the University of Melbourne and has spent over a decade working as a journalist, editor and podcaster. In 2025, her feature film Hysterical was shortlisted for the AWG’s Emerging Writers’ Awards.
