Jess Fisher is an emerging Writer/Director and proud Queenslander.
Recently graduated from Griffith Film School’s Masters Program, Jess has written and directed a number of shorts, and recently released a Screen Queensland supported online series, Ruff & Ruby, that went on to win ‘Best Australian Web Series’ at the 2025 Gold Coast Film Festival. Her film The Funeral Planner also won ‘Best Queensland Short’ at the 2024 Brisbane International Film Festival. Her comedy pilot Homebody was shortlisted for the 2025 Emerging Writers’ Awards.
Raised by her hardworking single mum and fierce Samoan grandmother, Jess is committed to writing more leading roles for women that are as complicated and interesting as women actually are.
