Katie Pollock

Katie Pollock was selected to take part in NSW First Break and successfully completed the program in June 2022.

Katie is an award-winning writer for stage, radio and screen who loves telling stories from a female perspective. Her play Normal won the Edward Albee/Inscription Playwriting Scholarship and the AWG’s What Happens Next competition, was a finalist in the Woodward/Newman Drama Award, was nominated for an AWGIE and is about to have its fifth production across three states. The script is published by Currency Press and Katie is currently adapting the play for film.

Her other works for stage and radio include The Curve (published by Currency Press); The BecomingThe Hansard MonologuesThe Blue Angel HotelA Quiet Night in Rangoon; A Girl Called RedNil by Sea (AWGIE nominated)Contact (AWGIE nominated)O is for Oxygen; and Blue Italian. Her work has been produced in theatres across Australia and on local and national radio.

Projects in development are her own one-woman show Rough Trade, opening in 2022; a TV pilot This Is Not My Job; and plays People Inside Me (winner of the Rodney Seaborn Award), Summerland (winner of the Martin Lysicrates Prize) and Human Activity (shortlisted for the Silver Gull Award).

Katie has a working background in journalism and publishing, was a narrative writer at the Child Abuse Royal Commission, holds a Masters in Theatre from UNSW, and for one long summer was a Mrs Whippy. See katiepollock.com
