Kris Mrksa is a versatile and well-regarded television writer, with an uncanny ability to tell the stories of real-life Australians.
Kris created and wrote the television drama series Requiem which is currently being produced by New Pictures for the BBC. In his sixteen year career as a writer and script editor Kris has also won numerous prizes and awards including two AFIs, three AWGIEs and the prestigious Foxtel Fellowship.
He has written for many prime time TV series including The Secret Life Of Us, Packed to the Rafters, Rush and East West 101 and was a key part of the team that developed and wrote the hit series Underbelly 2: A Tale of Two Cities and Underbelly 3: The Golden Mile, along with co-writers Felicity Packard and Peter Gawler. Kris was also the script editor on the SBS comedy series Wilfred, now successfully adapted for US television.
In 2006 Kris co-wrote the critically acclaimed tele-movie The King, based on the life of Graham Kennedy, which won three AFI’s and a Logie.
Kris adapted and wrote for the television version of Christos Tsiolkas’ bestselling novel The Slap with Alice Bell, which won numerous awards and was nominated for a BAFTA and an International Emmy. Kris wrote the acclaimed mini-series Devil’s Dust, based on the true story of Bernie Banton and the James Hardie asbestos tragedy.
