Kym Vercoe graduated from UWS/Theatre Nepean in 1996. Over the past two decades she has worked as a performer/devisor/director and writer for a number of Australia’s leading independent theatre companies, including Kantanka and version 1.0. Her work with version 1.0 includes the Helpmann Award winning This Kind of Ruckus, the Drover Award winning Deeply Offensive and Utterly Untrue, and the Peace Trust Award winning Seven Kilometres North-East.
In 2012 Kym (writer/lead actor) adapted seven kilometres north-east into a feature film with Berlinale Golden Bear Award winning Bosnian director Jasmila Žbanić. The film, For Those Who Can Tell No Tales, premiered at Toronto International Film Festival 2013, and has screened at over 50 festivals across the world, including the 2014 Sydney Film Festival. In 2014 Kym was interviewed by Margaret Throsby for ABC Classic FM’s midday interview.
Mrs Burswood is Kym’s second feature screenplay.
