Millie Holten

Millie Holten is an emerging screenwriter with a passion for grotty comedy. A 2019 VCA screenwriting graduate — in 2020, her work won the Script Pipeline First Look Project and was shortlisted for the Australian Writers’ Guild John Hinde Award. Millie has performed live comedy for over eight years, with sell-out MICF seasons across 2018, 2019 and 2021. She is the co-creator of the scripted podcast The Candyman, which was nominated for Best Comedy at the 2021 Australian Podcast Awards, featured on NPR’s Pop Culture Happy Hour, ABC, and more. Her web comic, Long Head, has racked up over 4,000,000 views on TikTok, with an animation in pre-production. In 2023, she was shortlisted for the 2023 Australian Writers’ Guild Monte Miller Award. Outside of screenwriting, Millie is the Narrative Lead at Toot Games (working on their VicScreen-funded title, My Arms Are Longer Now), and an academic screenwriting tutor at the VCA.
