Nick Kapetanios

Nick is good with a blade, understands where to make cuts, yet keeps the meat of the drama front and centre. He continues to practice this process as a freelance video editor.

When he is not slicing and dicing characters and plotlines on an NLE timeline, he writes screenplays that deal with science fiction, murder mysteries, and horror.

He enjoys reading scripts and giving feedback to writers he has met online. Two of those scripts now have development deals, one of them making the Hollywood Top Five 2023 Blacklist.

Nick is committed to giving back to his community, and as a member of the AWG NSW committee, he helps organise Write Night events, making advertising promos, and taking photos.

He wants to use his transferable skills to join writers’ rooms as a note-taker or Script Coordinator. Video editing helped him understand story structures, plotting, and characters’ GSOs (goals, stakes, and obstacles). He is fluent in two languages: tracking and updating. So he will know where he is at any given moment in the story that the writers dream up in the meetings.

Armed with additional training from First Break 2026, he is keen to work on shows that deal in police procedurals and Whodunits.

Nick helps the elderly in his building, showing them how to film and edit so they can send their grandkids some cool videos. In exchange for his services, they pay him in cakes and cookies.
