Since graduating from the Professional Screenwriting course at RMIT, Paul has worked in the TV Fiction department for the ABC, and as the script coordinator on shows such as Bed of Roses, Whatever Happened To That Guy? and The Doctor Blake Mysteries Series 2.
He was appointed story editor on The Doctor Blake Mysteries Series 3, a role he would hold for every subsequent series of the show. He would go on to write multiple episodes of Series 4 and 5, as well as The Doctor Blake Mysteries: Family Portrait telemovie for ABC TV, the highest rating Australian TV drama of 2017. More recently he wrote The Blake Mysteries: Ghost Stories telemovie for Channel 7, which aired in 2018. He currently has several projects in development, including a YA noir TV series, an original comedy/murder-mystery TV series, and a horror feature film screenplay which is due to go into production in the U.S in early 2021.
