Penelope Chai is an award-winning writer whose credits include Other People’s Problems (ABC, Series Mania), She was She (MIFF), Love & Fury (ABC) and a Film Victoria Writers Placement on the final season of Nowhere Boys (ABC).
She has been shortlisted for three AWGIES, winning the Monte Miller in 2016. She is the joint recipient of the Australians in Film Gateway LA Screenwriting Fellowship (2017), the Script Pipeline Grand Prize (2016) and the John Hinde Award for Excellence in Science Fiction Writing (2015).
She’s currently developing several film projects, including a feature film adaptation for Matchbox Pictures, a story about a real-life feminist protest at the Ladies Home Journal magazine and a Gender Matters feature film set in an ‘empty’ city in China, that draws on her own experiences as a biracial Chinese/Caucasian woman. She’s also writing on several television shows including Eden, a new Stan series currently in production.
