Rachel Laverty is a screen industry creative with twelve years’ experience in television and film production, including the past five years as a credited screenwriter.
Rachel worked in-house on flagship Australian drama, Home & Away from 2015 – 2018 as story associate and later script editor, as well as writer of over 30 episodes. Rachel gained excellent note-taking skills and strong experience in story development on a fast-paced production.
Over the last two years Rachel has worked as a freelance writer, script editor and note-taker for companies such as Essential Media, Steve Jaggi Company, Good Eye Deer and Seven Network. With a background in production and locations management working on a diverse slate of projects such as A Place to Call Home (Seven), Janet King (Screentime) and Redfern Now (Blackfella Films), Rachel also brings a thorough understanding of the production process to her writing work.
Rachel thrives on helping production companies shape their projects in early stages of development and later, streamlining scripts for production. Passionate about fostering a supportive and inclusive writing community, she is also a member of the AWG NSW Committee. In addition, Rachel is currently developing her own slate of projects including a web series exploring the minefield of serial app dating, and a half hour sci-fi comedy delving into designer DNA.
