Rachel Laverty

Rachel Laverty is a screen industry creative with 15 years’ experience in television and film; the last 8 years working in scripted development.

In recognition of Rachel’s work, she was selected as one of only 18 writers for the Netflix ANZ Grow Creative Writers Lab in October 2022, supported by AiF. She was also shortlisted for the AWG John Hinde Award for excellence in Science Fiction writing in both 2024 and 2025. Rachel is an in-demand collaborator, most recently hired for rooms to develop two different crime thriller series.

Rachel’s credits include Writer and Script Editor on Netflix ANZ’s Wellmania, Writer on kids adventure series Rock Island Mysteries for Fremantle & Nickelodeon UK (Seasons 2 & 3) and Script Editor on Netflix ANZ’s Heartbreak High (Season 3).

Previously, Rachel worked in-house on Home & Away as Story Associate and later Script Editor, as well as Writer of over 30 episodes. She also acquired a depth of knowledge and experience through production roles on a diverse slate of projects across television, features and documentary such as Janet King (Screentime), Gods of Egypt (Summit Entertainment) and First Contact (Blackfella Films).

Rachel is developing her own slate of TV and Feature projects exploring controversial subjects that make us uncomfortable. Her favourite genres are thrillers and dark comedies.
