Simon Proud

As a screenwriter, Simon Proud has primarily explored the horror genre. His writings have earned him several accolades and attracted the interest of a number of industry figures in Australia and abroad.

In 2010 he was the winner of the Short Screenplay Category of the Night of Horror International Film Festival for the werewolf inspired Three Moons; in 2011 his feature The New Kid was shortlisted for the AWG’s Terror Australis Competition; in 2012 he was nominated for the Monte Miller Award for his comedy pilot Clinton Black’s Class for the Modern Liar; his co-written 2013 short Leech was shortlisted for Tropfest; and in 2014 he was once again shortlisted for the Monte Miller Award for his feature length screenplay Umbra, which also made the top 15% in the Nicholl Fellowship of the same year, and is now in development. Most recently, his feature The Great God Pan reached the Top 3 in the Final Draft Big Break Screenwriting Contest horror category.
