Siobhán Mithen

Siobhán is an Irish-Australian writer and filmmaker.

She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (Anthropology) from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Screen Production from AFTRS. Committed to continually developing her craft, Siobhán has shadowed the writing team on NCIS: Sydney, worked as a Director’s and Producer’s Assistant, and built production experience across the Australian screen industry in both film and television.

Her screenwriting has been recognised internationally by the Barnstorm Film Festival Screenplay Contest, the Inroads Fellowship, and the Manchester International Film Festival. Her directorial debut, Flotsam, premiered at Flickerfest International Film Festival in 2026, was a finalist at the Australian Women’s Film Festival, and received the Best First-Time Filmmaker award at Top Shorts 2026.

Passionate about storytelling, Siobhán’s work is grounded in realism, relationships and reckonings. Blending literary sensibilities with emotional naturalism, she is drawn to stories that uncover the extraordinary within ordinary lives and contribute to a distinctly Australian screen culture.
