Sophie Kesoglidis is a CALD Melbourne-based screenwriter, notetaker and researcher.
Formerly a professional violist playing on soundtracks from RED DOG to LAMBS OF GOD, Sophie drew upon her own life experience to write and direct, LISTEN, a short film, which won the AACTA/ SONY Pitch Focus initiative. LISTEN is due for festival release in 2025.
Sophie received the AWG Award for Outstanding Student Performance upon graduating from RMIT Advanced Diploma in Professional Screenwriting and studied in the MFA Producing program at American Film Institute in LA.
As a writer’s assistant, literary and development intern, Sophie has observed writers’ rooms and written coverage for production companies locally and at a major agency in LA.
Her writing journey began with TANGO’S VIOLIN, the world’s first tango stage musical, which she wrote, co-directed alongside Alan Becher, Artistic Director of Perth Theatre Company, and produced and toured nationally to sell out audiences.
Sophie has won and been a finalist in competitions, completed AWG First Break Notetaker training with Libby Butler and worked in the production office on JACK IRISH (Easy Tiger/ABC) and at Endemol Shine.
Her colleagues describe her as “organised, thorough, focussed, prepared, agile, friendly, efficient – and a chocolate addict”.
