Tansy Gardam

Tansy Gardam is a writer, producer and podcaster based in Naarm/Melbourne who has worked in the Australian screen industry in a variety of roles for the past decade.

She started out as an ASTRA Graduate Intern with The Walt Disney Company, then simply refused to leave at the end of the three month placement, and over the next five years went from intern to head writer on a Disney Channel daily half hour variety show (Hanging With), then moved to the ABC, writing and producing for Art Works, News To Me and Quick Skits.

Tansy is also the writer and host of Going Rogue, an award-winning investigative podcast which dives deep into troubled film productions. Going Rogue has made Gardam a trusted voice for accessible and nuanced film criticism among film fans and industry figures — the show has been translated into Spanish, and a web series spinoff (The Fall of Skywalker) is currently in development.

Tansy’s scripted work focuses on women who are exhausted by society’s rules, and attempt to find a way around them, whether that’s by becoming Bigfoot or refusing to learn your lesson in a timeloop movie because you think it’s the only way to stop climate change. Tansy has taken part in the VicScreen Originate Writers Seminar and Libby Butler’s note taking workshop, but a majority of her professional work has been in factual television, so you can get the experience and calm of a producer for the price of a note taker.
