Thomas Moody is a Melbourne-based screenwriter and short story writer, shortlisted for the 2026 Emerging Writer Award for his co-written feature screenplay Esperance. A pharmacist by trade, Thomas has always been a writer at heart, winning several awards for his short stories. While working in hospitals, he moonlighted as a writer/director of music videos and short films. It was while studying film at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2014 that he discovered his preferred medium of long-form screenplays. He is currently working on a screenplay about estranged siblings reuniting in a rural Australian town to contend with their individual childhood experiences following the death of their father.
