Trudy worked extensively as an actor with regular roles in series such as Front Line and Around the Twist before studying screenwriting at RMIT. She won an AFI for her first short film script Break and Enter with Oscar winning producer Melanie Coombs.
Trudy and Melanie developed feature films Barking Love – an Irish/Australian co-production and the female action adventure Car City (Screen Australia development). Trudy wrote on series 1 and 2 of Lowdown (ABC TV, co-written with Amanda Brotchie and Adam Zwar) won the narrative comedy AWGIE and received an AACTA nomination for the same work.
With Maria Theodorakis, Trudy Co-created online series Little Acorns, staring Rachel Griffiths. Little Acorns received Best Writing at NYC webfest, SPAA and ADG nominations, won numerous international awards and sold to Virgin Airlines. It is was recently optioned by a major Australian network as a long-form series. As producers, Trudy and Maria were supported through Gender Matters (Screen Australia) for comedy series, Caravan of Love and their drama series Black Eyes, was selected for the Film Victoria writer’s room with US showrunner Simon Mirren, Criminal Minds.
Trudy was selected by Film Victoria to attend the Cinestory Lab in Los Angeles CA in 2017. She recently completed an animation feature, Daisy Quokka for Like a Photon and NBC Universal. A successful playwright, Trudy won the RE Ross Trust Award for Waking Up Dead, produced in a sellout season at Fortyfivedownstairs, nominated for a Greenroom Award and received a Regional Arts Vic tour 2016. Her short films that have screened at numerous international festivals including, Clermont Ferrand, Edinborough, NY and Aspen.
